Ready to build your own library of sewing patterns? Here you have a 2 in 1. A Top Pattern Organiser and a cheat sheet to remember how to switch from one basic foundation to the next one. This is a downloadable A4 pdf that comes with:

  • Project Plan Template: With all the information you need to write down after every pattern you design.
  • Foundation Cover: This can be used to organise all the patterns you draft based on the foundation used. The foundations include: Top, Torso, Shirt and Stretchy foundations in their “basic”, “casual” and “oversized” versions. Every cover has visual and written instructions on how to draft the pattern based on other foundations.
  • Pattern Contouring Cheat Sheet: To draft necklines you need to master pattern contouring… this is a cheat sheet with all the basic information on how to measure it on your body, how to transfer it to the pattern and what the standard measurements are.

The Template includes the following information:

  • The Title – Give a name to your designs and make them more special
  • Final Product Image – Be proud of how the final design turned out
  • Fabric sample – Remember what fabric you used for the design
  • Pattern information – What foundation did you use, what neckline did you use, what sleeves, did you add any details?
  • Sizing information – Our bodies change all the time, remember what size you were when you made the pattern
  • Fabric requirements – What type of fabric is needed for the structure? How much lining or interfacing do you need?
  • Adjustments – Keep track of all the changes you want to make in future iterations of the design
  • Piece count – Write down all the pieces that come with the pattern and store them in one place
  • Design drawing – We al know good drawings make good fashion designers!

How I sort my patterns: I like to have a binder with transparent sleeves for every type of garment in my wardrobe. I organise the patterns per foundation, starting with the cover and then the template for each design. I draft the pattern pieces in thin paper and store them inside the sleeve behind the template.

How to print the file: Print at 100% scale. The stretch foundation includes a ruler to measure the stretch percentage of your fabric and it needs to be printed at 100% scale.
